Hexion Specialty Chemicals, Inc., today announced the launch of four new products in its EcoBind™ resin technology family designed to reduce emissions from hardwood plywood well below the most stringent global standards. Two categories of products are available - ultra-low emitting formaldehyde (ULEF) amino resins and no-added formaldehyde (NAF) resins – to meet varying customer requirements. These resin systems will allow mills to meet CARB Phase II emission ceilings and/or LEED standards and, in some cases, exempt them from CARB testing. READ MORE
ANSI Approves Revised Standards for Particleboard and MDF; CARB Emission Ceilings Embraced
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has approved revised national voluntary standards for ANSI A208.1-2009 Particleboard and ANSI A208.2-2009 MDF for Interior Applications. Sponsored by the Composite Panel Association (CPA), the standards include new grades as well as harmonization with the formaldehyde emission ceilings and other requirements recently enacted by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
